Public participation in the territorial development

The idea behind public participation in territorial development projects is to include the stakeholders of a territory into its management. The goal is to integrate the user expertise, to create a climate of trust, and to establish channels of communication between different stakeholders in order to achieve a more democratic management of the territory answering the challenge of sustainable development.

The process of public participation in the territorial development projects can be constructed in the following manner:
  • Diagnosis of the territory, stakeholder network analysis, review of existing ways of governance
  • Establishment of one or several forums of stakeholders with a shared language and a common vision
  • Identifying issues at stake, objectives of stakeholders involved and possible solutions
  • If resources allow : Virtual testing of proposed solutions
  • Participatory evaluation and strategic planning
We recognize knowledge and experience of all the participants and we use participatory tools that allow knowledge sharing. We combine these tools with our expertise in group facilitation.

Our approach enables effective collaboration between the stakeholders involved in the project and supports effective decision making.
